Kansas Council of Classified Senates Position Paper for FY 2008

The unified Classified Senates request that the Kansas Legislature initiate the following actions, addressing all pay issues fully funded and effective at the beginning of the fiscal year:

SALARY

• Develop and implement a pay matrix, without a cap, rewarding employees for experience and longevity. We would like this to be placed into law so it is funded annually.
• Annual COLA based on the consumer price index

BENEFITS

• Maintain or enhance the current level of health care coverage while reducing the employee contribution for family insurance options
• For each employee retired under the 85 point option, continue to pay the same percentage of the health insurance premium as is paid for active employees until that individual is eligible for Medicare
