President David Hartman called the October 10, 2007 meeting of the Pittsburg State University Classified Senate to order in room 316 Hughes Hall.
Senators Present: Jill Allen (Secretary), Sue Ann Barnes, John Bartels, Dee Buffalo, Wylie DeGruson, Tina Gregory, David Hartman (President), Pam Henderson, Dave Hornback, Kathi Lunday, Leigh Ann Martin, Tracey Mussa (President-Elect), Kathy Neely, Josh Tucker, Marty White, Mary Wolfe (Treasurer), Stacy Wolownik
Senators Excused: Jerry Duvall, John Foster
Senators Absent: Debbie Sullins
Guest Speaker(s): Dr. Triplett and Steve Erwin are co-chairs of the University Committee on Energy & Resource Conservation. They spoke on the many changes that had been implemented on campus and the future plans for recycling on campus. Minutes: No corrections. Motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the minutes for the September meeting.
Treasurer’s report: The budget account had a beginning balance of $1,640.00 with monthly expenditures of $49.10 for an ending balance of $1,590.90. Motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the September treasurer’s report.
Position Paper: The committee met with Kansas State Representatives, Bob Grant and Julie Menghini and the best option is to stick with the Matrix and have it funded. They agreed not to put in anything on the vacation issue, because they can add this to bills later. This committee will meet again today.
Election Committee: Need to send out an At-Large senator email for University Police and Parking Services area.
Legislative Committee: No report.
Public Relations: Display case is updated.
Advocacy Committee: No report.
Other University Committees: No report.
Senate President’s Report from Meetings with Dr. Bryant: October 29th the Regents will be here.
- The Physical Plant staff luncheon is Friday at 11:30.
- Dr. Bryant agreed and he likes the position paper to be unified with other institutions.
- Labette Community College bought Mickey Finn’s just south of town.
Legislative Update: Monday is the next Oversight committee meeting.
Old Business: None.
New Business:
- The Classified Senate is in the works of restructuring senate meetings. The executive members will be working on the new structure and present it to the rest of the senate for a vote when a rough draft is available.
- Approved funding for car, gas and meals for Kathi Lunday and Tracey Mussa for November 15th.
- Approved funding for car, gas and meals for John Bartels, Wylie DeGruson and Josh Tucker for November 5th.
- Dick Hedges, new Regents member, will be here on October 25th at 10:00 am in 126 Hughes Hall.
- Dave Hornback was appointed to the Recycling committee.
