Program Completer Applying to Oklahoma

If you are a PSU graduate or program completer and wish to apply for initial licensure/certification in the State of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) strongly encourages you to apply for a Kansas teaching license if you are eligible to do so before applying for an Oklahoma license.  If you apply with a valid Kansas license, OSDE will issue to you a comparable Oklahoma license/certificate but you must submit your PRAXIS II assessments to the Oklahoma Commission on Teacher Preparation to determine comparability to Oklahoma examinations per the form available on the OCTP web site at

by clicking on Certification Testing in the left-hand column and again on Request for Out-of-State Test Review in the right-hand column.

If you are ineligible for a Kansas teaching license but apply for an Oklahoma license/certificate, PSU must complete the Verification of State-Approved Teacher Education Program from Non-Oklahoma College/University also available on the OSDE web site at

by clicking again on Verification of State-Approved Teacher Education Program from Non-Oklahoma College/University at the bottom of the center column in the first section.

You however first must complete and submit to OSDE the APPLICATION FOR OKLAHOMA LICENSE (see below) prior to sending the Verification of State-Approved Teacher Education Program from Non-Oklahoma College/University to PSU.  Upon receipt of your Verification of State-Approved Teacher Education Program from Non-Oklahoma College/University form, your program completion will be verified and the form mailed directly to the Oklahoma State Department of Education.  Again, OSDE must have your application to which the verification form may be matched when received from PSU.

The APPLICATION FOR OKLAHOMA SCHOOL LICENSE (for educators who have zero years of teaching experience in a state or regionally accredited school) or the APPLICATION FOR OKLAHOMA SCHOOL CERTIFICATE (for educators with at least one year of verified teaching experience in a state or regionally accredited school) may be found on the OSDE web site at

by clicking on Application for Oklahoma School License or Application for Oklahoma School Certificate under Certification Applications in the center of the page.  This is the application you will complete per the instructions provided herein and with the application.
