Roster Synchronization (formerly known as merging)
By synchronizing your rosters between two or more courses, you will only have one course to maintain. You can still contact and make assignments for the individual sections or for all of the sections at one time. Synchronizing your courses involves four steps: Synchronize Rosters, rename the Base Course, cleanup the Student team, and cleanup you Course nugget on your ANGEL home page.
Step 1: Synchronize your Rosters
- Log into your ANGEL course that has the lowest course or section number (i.e. use 405-02 if merging with 405-03 or 705-01).
- Go to Manage / Roster.
- Click the subtitle 'Roster Synchronization'.
- Click the subtitle 'Add Rosters'.
- Scroll down or go to the next page until you locate the course(s) you want to add. Check the box next to the course number.
- Leave the two boxes at the bottom checked.
- Click 'OK'
- Click the 'Add Team' link in the Team Name column of the course that you are currently in.
- Click 'Exit Roster Synchronization'.
- Click 'Exit Roster Editor'.
Step 2: Rename the Base Course
- From the Manage page, click 'General Course Settings' in the center column
- In the Title field, modify the course number to reflect the synchronazation (i.e. merging 405-02 with 405-03 becomes 405 or merging 405-02 with 705-01 becomes 405/705)
- Click 'Save'.
Step 3: Cleaning up your Teams -- if you use the ANGEL mail system and mail to the team Student you will need to add the students from the merged course(s) to the Student team. This process is not automatically done when synchronizing courses or when a student enrolls in a course after the courses have been synchronized.
- From the Manage page, click 'Teams'.
- Click the subtitle 'add users' under the team name Student.
- Do not check yourself when doing this process. Going one page at a time, check the boxes next to the new students then click 'Add Selected'. Proceed to the next page if needed and repeat the process until you are through.
- Click 'Done'.
Step 4: Cleaning up your Course nugget on your ANGEL homepage.
- Go to your ANGEL homepage by clicking the house icon or the word Home in the rop left corner.
- When you synchronized the courses, all but the base course were disabled.
- If you do not see the disabled course(s) in your Course nugget, then you are through.
- If you do see them and do not want them listed, hover your mouse over the Course nugget banner and click the Pencil icon that appears. On the next screen, scroll down to the appropriated semester and uncheck the course(s) that are diabled. Then click 'Save'.
- If you need to, collapes the previous semesters that are showing by clicking on the minus sign in front of the semester term.
