Bachelor of Science in Education with a Major
in Vocational Home Economics
This curriculum is planned to meet the needs of students who wish to obtain a Vocational Home Economics Certificate enabling them to teach in schools with home economics programs which meet the provisions of the federal vocational acts. Such a certificate requires a baccalaureate degree in home economics from a curriculum approved by the Vocational Division of the United States Office of Education and by the State Board of Vocational Education. Students who take this degree are not required to complete a minor field. This degree enables students to meet the requirements for several vocations other than teaching: business, extension, research, social service, and homemaking. Recent graduates with the B.S. in Education who majored in home economics may be found in these challenging positions: school and hospital food service, social services, head start programs, secondary teaching, extension home economics and graduate study.
