New Non-Degree Seeking Students
A student who falls into one of the categories below is required to apply for admission as a non-degree seeking student:
- Wants to take college coursework, but is not interested in completing a degree.
- Attending another institution and wants to take one or two courses from PSU.
- Wants to take undergraduate courses for certification programs.
A student seeking admission as a non-degree seeking student must complete the Undergraduate Application for Admission and submit the $30 application fee. Apply online at www.pittstate.edu, download a copy from the web site or request a copy from the Office of Admission and send to Office of Admission, Pittsburg State University, 1701 South Broadway, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
Test scores and transcripts are not required for admission as a non-degree seeking student unless the desired course requires prerequisites. Non-degree seeking students are typically not eligible for federal financial aid.
If a non-degree seeking student wants to change his/her status to degree seeking, regular admission requirements must be met. Courses completed as a non-degree seeking student will have credit awarded, but whether the courses taken will apply to degree requirements will depend on the nature and applicability of the courses.
A student who has been denied admission as a new freshman or transfer student is not eligible for admission as a non-degree seeking student.
New Guest Students
Academically prepared high school students interested in taking college coursework prior to high school graduation may apply for admission as a guest student. A student seeking admission as a guest student must complete the Undergraduate Application for Admission and submit the $30 application fee. Apply online at www.pittstate.edu, download a copy from the web site or request a copy from the Office of Admission and send to Office of Admission, Pittsburg State University, 1701 South Broadway, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
Pittsburg State University may seek acknowledgement/permission from high school officials and may require ACT scores and/or a partial high school transcript depending on the desired course. If a guest student wants to change his/her status to degree seeking after high school graduation, new freshman admission requirements must be met. Guest students are typically not eligible for federal financial aid. |
