Where Are The Jobs Posted?
All on-campus jobs can be viewed within the Career Services Online program under Jobs & Internships, in the Student Employment office or in the job display case on the lower level of the Student Welcoming Center. Check each job listed to match your skills and interests; note the job number and contact person for those positions.
How Do I Apply?
Let the Student Employment office in 202 Horace Mann know which positions you want to apply for and we will submit your completed resume to those particular positions. After your application is sent, department representatives will later contact those applicants they have chosen to interview. A student should generally expect to hear back from the department anywhere from 1-3 weeks after they have applied. This, of course, depends on the specific needs of the department and when the position will actually begin.
If you are selected for an interview, it is important to remember that your first contact is one of the most important steps in your job search. You should prepare yourself for the job interview in a business-like manner and be ready to stress your specific skills, which would enable you to perform the job duties. If you feel you need some tips or assistance on interviewing, feel free to contact the Career Services office for some helpful information regarding your job search.
You may contact us by phone at (620) 235-4145, by email at: stuemp@pittstate.edu or in person at 202 Horace Mann.
YES! I'm Hired, Now What?
If you are selected for the job, you will need to complete some required paperwork before your first day of work. After receiving your appointment form from the department, you must immediately report to the Student Employment office to complete your appointment. Federal law requires you to present documents which will verify identity and employment eligibility. An unexpired U.S. passport will verify both these criteria. If you do not have a passport, you will need two separate documents such as a photo driver's license or university photo ID and an original social security card or certified copy of a birth certificate. International students must also present the proper institutional documentation to certify their employment eligibility.
Job Location & Development
In addition to the on-campus employment positions, the Student Employment office also provides information regarding job opportunities off-campus. These off-campus positions can be viewed within the Career Services Online program under Jobs & Internships, in the Student Employment office or in the job display case on the lower level of the Student Welcoming Center.
The program also provides students an opportunity to participate in various off-campus jobs such as community service projects, childcare, literacy training, and education (tutoring). Contact the Student Employment office for more information regarding these programs. (620) 235-4145 or stuemp@pittstate.edu

Most student employment positions are paid the federal minimum wage (currently $5.85 per hour). Students are paid every two weeks. Checks may be electronically deposited or mailed to the address of the student's choice.
