Commencement is a special celebration, filled with tradition and symbolism to commemorate your academic accomplishments at Pittsburg State University.
Family and Guest Activities
We have no limit on the number of guests a student may invite to attend their graduation ceremony. Adequate seating will be available. No tickets are needed for your guests.
The College of Technology will hold a reception in honor of its graduating students on Friday, May 9, 2014, 1:30-2:30 pm in the KTC rotunda. Refreshments will be served. Graphics and Imaging Technologies will take photos of the graduates in their caps and gowns and give each person a free CD of photos. You and your family and friends are invited to join in your commencement celebration by personally ringing the Centennial Bell located at the southwest corner of Axe Library. The Centennial Bell will be available for ringing from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 and 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014.
U.S. Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 9 at the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater located on Rouse Street. Rain location will be McCray Hall Auditorium.

Accommodations for Special Needs
Handicapped parking will be available on the north side of the Weede Building. Graduating students in wheelchairs or those who need special accommodations at Commencement should contact the Registrar's Office at 620-235-4206. Designated seating is available in the arena for our guests who need accommodations. Ushers will available to help with seating. Doors are open for seating approximately 30 minutes prior to each ceremony. A drop off area will be made available at the west entrance (northbound traffic lane) of the Weede Physical Education Building.
Safety Preparedness for Commencement Exercises
In accordance with the Kansas State Fire Marshall regulations, we request that you take a moment to identify the two emergency exits closest to you as you arrive at the Weede Physical Education building. In case of emergency, pay close attention to the announcer for important safety information. University Police will be available. Contact 620-235-4624 in case of emergency.
