Minors

The Department offers five minors to serve the needs of other majors.

The minors are: General Biology and General Science (Dr. Smith), Cell Biology (Dr. Dan. Zurek), Natural History (Dr. Cindy Ford), and Environmental Management (Dr. Joe Arruda).

  • Many students from nursing, health, physical education & recreation, or elementary education take a biology minor.

  • Some PE or recreation majors may be interested in the Natural History or Environmental Management minors.

  • At times, students in history, business, pre-law, or technology also will consider the Environmental Management minor.

  • The Cell Biology minor is designed primarily for chemistry majors looking for a more specialized biology minor with advanced coursework.

See the University Catalog for a description of Biology course offerings and a detailed listing of required courses for each minor for the catalog currently on the PSU web site. The requirements for our existing minors follows, but be sure to contact your advisor and the specific biology faculty responsible for each minor of the Biology Chairperson for the latest information and for when courses are offered.
