The department of Mathematics recommends using the guidelines below for determining placement in a mathematics course. Using the student's mathematics ACT subscore and high school mathematics background, select the appropriate course from the cell identified. Students who did well in high school mathematics might select the higher numbered courses, while students who did not do as well or who lack confidence in their mathematics skills should select lower numbered courses.
