Video clips can make a dramatic difference in any teaching and learning situation. Careful selection and use of video clips can result in positive changes in students' interest, learning efficiency, and retention of information.
If your course textbook includes video clips in the form of CD-ROM or DVD, consider whether you should use a computer connected to an LCD projector.
Your students can also view the video clips individually in a computer lab.
There are many sources available for renting or purchasing video clips, CD-ROMs, and DVDs to be used in your courses. The following sites are just some examples:

If your budget can't cover the cost of renting a particular video clip, you may want to consider using other alternatives: locating a less expensive archival video source through your local libraries, using a series of still images rather than video, or shooting your own video clips using a digital camera.
Before you head out to the field with your camcorder in hand, it is important to understand at least the basics of video recording and editing as well as the constraints of using video in a teaching/learning situation.
Check with your technology coordinator for some help, advice, and tips. |
