Dark/Light: National Juried Photo Exhibition

Joyce Tenneson has received astounding honors for her powerful images of the human essence.  She was honored with the International Center of the Photography's Infinity Award, for best-applied photography and the "Photographer of the Year" by the international organization, Women in Photography.  Tenneson was also voted among the ten most influential women photographers in the history of photography.  Tenneson juried Pittsburg State University’s “Dark-Light: National Juried Photography Exhibit” on behalf of the Abigail Rebecca Cohen Fund.  Abigail Cohen’s exhibit  “One Cycle of my Journey” can be viewed at www.onecycle.com.  The fine art book,  “One Cycle of my Journey” was edited, designed and produced under the direction of Tenneson.

Tenneson selected twenty-seven artists from around the country who answered PSU’s National Call for Entries.  She selected Tracy Longley-Cook from Tempe AZ as the first place award winner in the student category, Elizabeth Hickok from San Francisco, CA for first place in the regular professional artist category, Stephen Komp from Fredonia NY is second place, and Stafford Smith from Williamsport, PA  and Barbara Dombach from Holtwood, PA share third place.

Juror’s Statement:

I was very impressed with the quality of the submission for the juried exhibition Dark-Light.  I was particularly impressed with work that showed a consistent style.  It’s always important for a juror to feel that the top award winners have an individual and unique voice.  Congratulations to all of you on some amazing work, you are all stars!
