One Cycle of My JourneyThe subjects are sometimes alone, sometimes with others, sometimes dissected, sometimes overlapping, repeating, blank, etc. It is a narrative that has no focal point, no real measure, so that it is like a dream or myth- a half-reality: The reality one’s subjectivity creates on its own… It is, what I have coined, a lifecycle- one cycle of an eternal allegory.

Abigail Cohen was a young artist whose life was cut short by a congenital heart defect. Cohen was 27 when she died in December 2000. Her beautiful photographs are complex because she began to investigate the relationships in her life that were of supreme importance at a young age. These insightful explorations of family and friends were the catalyst for the early emergence of a mature photographic voice. Before her death she exhibited at Nexus Gallery in New York; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and the Mona Bismark Foundation in Paris, France.

The Abigail Cohen Fund sponsors the traveling exhibit One Cycle of My Journey to introduce the unique vision of this young artist to audiences in the United States and Europe. Joyce Tenneson, was honored with the International Center of Photography's Infinity Award, for best applied photography and the "Photographer of the Year" by the international organization, Women in Photography. Tenneson was also voted among the ten most influential women photographers in the history of photography. Tenneson was a mentor and friend to Abigail. On behalf of the Abigail Cohen Foundation, whose mandate is to support the disadvantaged youth in the arts, Tenneson continues to support

Abigail’s intention to show the importance of family and relationships.
