MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Pittsburg State University Alumni Association established the Meritorious Achievement Award in 1958 and is the highest award based on career achievement presented by the Alumni Association. Candidates must have demonstrated substantial professional growth and advancement over an extended period of time. The candidate's activities, including participation and leadership in civic and professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels, will also be considered by the Awards Selection Committee in selecting the recipients.

Candidates must have earned at least 30 credit hours in residency at Pittsburg State University at least twenty-five years prior to their nomination. Because of exceptional accomplishments by an alumnus, the Awards Committee may deem it appropriate to present this award to an individual before the minimum age or time elapsed from school has been reached. All recipients will return to campus at Commencement or a time designated by the Awards Selection Committee to receive the award.

Completed applications received at the Wilkinson Alumni Center before June 15th will be considered for the first time for the December presentation of the award. Applications received by December 1st will be considered the first time for May presentation.

An alumnus who holds any elected State of Kansas office is not eligible as long as he or she holds the office.

DR. KENNETH K. BATEMAN OUTSTANDING ALUMNI AWARD

The Pittsburg State University Alumni Association established the Outstanding Alumni Award (then called Outstanding Young Alumni Award) in 1972 and presented the first awards later that year at Homecoming.   In 2006 the award was renamed in honor of Dr. Kenneth K. Bateman, Alumni Director Emeritus.

The Dr. Kenneth K. Bateman Outstanding Alumni Award seeks to recognize individuals who have demonstrated significant professional growth and advancement since the completion of their degree or last credit hours.  Specific criteria which reflect the emphasis of study and/or their chosen area of work will be used by each department, college, or school and Awards Committee in evaluating candidates.  The candidate's participation and leadership in civic and professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels, will also be considered by the Awards Committee in selecting the recipients.

Candidates must have earned their last credit hours or degree from Pittsburg State University at least ten years prior to their nomination and/or be at least thirty-five years old.  Because of exceptional accomplishments by an alumnus, the Awards Committee may deem it appropriate to present this award to an individual before the minimum age or time elapsed from school has been reached.  All recipients should exemplify the highest personal and professional standards.  Finalists must be available to return to campus at Homecoming or at a time designated by the Awards Committee to receive the award.

Completed applications received at the Wilkinson Alumni Center before June 15th will be considered the next presentation award.

An alumnus who holds any elected State of Kansas office is not eligible as long as he or she holds the office.
