Welcome to Pittsburg State University’s undeclared advising information page for students. This site is designed to assist you in preparing for your academic advising appointment.
Your academic advising appointment should include discussion of any or all of the following items: degrees offered at PSU, degree requirements, general education requirements, steps in selecting a degree program, and course scheduling.
Before you arrive for your advising appointment, it is MANDATORY that you access your undeclared program degree audit. Be sure to bring a copy with you to your appointment.

Academic advising is a process in which an advisor and an advisee enter a collaborative relationship. The intent of this collaboration is to assist the student in the development of meaningful educational goals that are consistent with personal interests, values and abilities.

RECOMMENDED INTRODUCTORY COURSES BY MAJOR
CAREER EXPLORATIONS: PSYCH 230 – A one credit hour course designed to aid students in exploring sources of career information and the world of work. Decision-making skills and methodologies, sources of occupational-educational information, and the various sources for gaining career information and self-understanding will be explored. Includes experience in using career information systems.
DISCOVER: Any student struggling with a career decision or wishing to do career planning can visit the Career Resource Center (202 Horace Mann Hall) to receive a token to use the DISCOVER program. DISCOVER is a career decision making/educational/career planning computer software program that leads a student through the career exploration and planning process. It has in-depth information about college majors, job and career opportunities, and financial assistance. This program by ACT is very interactive and uses both audio and video clips to inform the user. |
