Welcome!
Pitt C.A.R.E.S. (Campus Advisement, Registration, and Enrollment Services) extends a warm welcome to you and your family! Pitt C.A.R.E.S. is designed to assist you with your transition to Pittsburg State University. During Pitt C.A.R.E.S. you will gain valuable insights about college life through small-group activities, meet with an academic advisor to plan your fall semester and complete university enrollment procedures.
By attending Pitt C.A.R.E.S. you will:
- Enroll in courses for the fall 2008 semester
- Meet other members of your incoming class
- Meet current PSU students
- Receive your student ID Gorilla Card
- Feel better prepared to start PSU in the fall
- Be better informed about campus services
All 2008 high school graduates planning to enroll for the fall semester are REQUIRED to attend a Pitt C.A.R.E.S. session. Session dates are:

Check-in for each session begins at 8 a.m. Program activities are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Register early!
There are limits to the number of students who can be served during each session. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. If your chosen dates are full, you will automatically be assigned to the next available date. If you decide to list only one choice, we will not guarantee a space for that date. A confirmation postcard will be mailed to you and will include your Pitt C.A.R.E.S. date, time and check-in information.
Students majoring in one of the following areas must register for one of the Monday dates:
Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, Psychology, Psychology Education
Parent/guest sessions are offered concurrently with student sessions. The parent/guest sessions help families anticipate the rewards and challenges of sharing the college experience with their student. A sibling program is also available for approximately 80 minutes during the morning. The program is recommended for siblings ages 6-16 and will allow them to get a glimpse of what their brother or sister will be experiencing at Pitt State.
- Pitt C.A.R.E.S. program costs are $20 per student and $10 per parent/guest. There is no charge for siblings under the age of 18.
- Advanced payment is required and should be included with registration form.
- Do not send cash.
- Fees are non-refundable.

Pitt C.A.R.E.S. is informal!
Be sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. In addition, on the day of Pitt C.A.R.E.S. remember to:
- Bring a photo ID so you can get your Gorilla Card
- Be admitted to PSU
- Have already submitted your housing contract, or have an Exemption Form on file with University Housing
- Have already sent transcripts for any community college course credit you may have earned while in high school

General Information
If you will require accommodation for specific learning and/or physical challenges, please attach a brief explanation to your registration so that we may contact you to make necessary preparations. This information is voluntary and will be treated with utmost confidentiality. We will, however, forward your name to the campus Affirmative Action Office and/or the Learning Disabilities Assistance Program so that these offices can begin preparations to assist you in the fall semester.
