Academic Achievement Award (for 2008 High School Grads):
The Academic Achievement Award is based on your cumulative high school GPA and your ACT score. You must graduate from an accredited high school to qualify. The amount awarded for the first year (divided equally over the first two consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment) is based on the following scale:

Achieving a 3.2 cumulative GPA during the first year at PSU with a minimum of 24 credit hours allows the Academic Achievement Award to be renewed for an additional two consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment.
The potential total award divided equally over four consecutive semesters of attendance at PSU would be:

No scholarship application is required to receive the Academic Achievement Award.
In order to receive the total award over four semesters, a student must:
- Enroll and attend classes in four consecutive semesters at Pittsburg State University as a full-time student
- Maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA each academic year
Valedictorians (those ranked #1 in their high school graduating class) are eligible to receive a $1000 award in addition to the Academic Achievement Award. The valedictorians award is divided over the first two semesters of attendance. It is not renewable.
The Diversity Grant in Aid (for incoming freshmen and transfer students):
Students of diversity, qualifying for the Academic Achievement Award for high school graduates or transfer students, may be eligible for an additional $1000 annually. Diversity status will be considered on a case-by-case basis.*
This grant is limited to a specific number of students and is renewable for students with a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher. (based on a minimum of 24 credit hours earned per academic year).
A Pittsburg State University committee selects grant recipients using the following criteria:
- Completed application for admission with application fee
- Placement on the Academic Achievement Award grid from highest to lowest status
- Timely submission of high school transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, or college transcripts (for transfer students). (Partial admission file completion is necessary to be considered for this grant.)
*Factors that compose diversity include, but are not limited to, students who are members of an underrepresented ethnicity on campus, low socioeconomic first generation college attendees, or are from geographic areas where students have not traditionally attended Pittsburg State University.
Academic Achievement Award (for transfer students):
Students transferring from an accredited college, university, or community college in Kansas, the gorilla advantage or the Midwest Student Exchange, 3.5 GPA and 24 hours completed. (GPA of 3.5 - 3.9 - $750 Award, GPA of 4.0 - $1500 Award)
Kansas All-State Academic Team (for transfer students):
To receive this non-renewable $1000 award, a student must be selected as a member of the Kansas All-State Academic Team sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa and the Kansas Association of Community Colleges
Phi Theta Kappa Recognition Award (for transfer students):
To receive this non-renewable $500 award, a student must be admitted to PSU as a transfer student and
be an active member in the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society (proof of membership may be required).
