To earn a degree from Pittsburg State University, a student must complete at least 60 credit hours at an accredited four-year university or college.  Of these 60 credit hours, at least 30 credit hours must be in residence (courses taken from Pitt State).  These minimum resident hours must include eight semester hours of credit in the major department.  In addition, students must earn credit in 6 hours of English Composition/Research Writing with a grade of C or above and must earn credit in a course in basic speech composition.   Transfer students with fewer than 55 credit hours will also have to complete the Writing To Learn requirement. 

A student must complete the degree requirements of the most recent PSU catalog in effect at the time of the student's first attendance at any college or university provided that the catalog has not expired.  Each PSU catalog is in effect for six years after its introduction.
