Student Organizations
The PSU Department of Accounting has three outstanding student organizations that provide our accounting majors and minors many opportunities for professional development and networking with practitioners: Beta Alpha Psi Lambda Gamma Chapter, Accounting Association / Institute of Management Accountants Student Chapter, and the Institute of Internal Auditors Student Chapter (IIASC).
These organizations have monthly professional meetings on campus. In addition, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Student Chapter is affiliated with the Joplin Tri-State Chapter of the IMA, which sponsors monthly meetings in the Joplin area. The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Student Chapter is affiliated with the Kansas City Chapter of the IIA, which hosts monthly meetings in the Kansas City area.
Beta Alpha Psi also participates in service activities such as Special Olympics, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), Opportunities in the Accounting Profession Career Day for high school and community college students, and Adopt-A-Highway.
