A Note from our Chapter President, Rich Vaughan

Greetings Fellow IMA Members:

By the time you read this letter, school will be back in session, the Olympics will be replaced by the start of a new football season, and time for a new year for our Joplin Tri-State IMA chapter.  I’d like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Chapter President for the 2008-2009 meeting year.  This chapter is fortunate to have an enthusiastic and creative Board of Directors as well as a diverse and interesting membership.

So exactly what has your Board been doing all summer?  We’ve culled the results of last spring’s survey and were able to incorporate some of the ideas generated from that survey in setting this year’s proposed schedule of events.  Our plans include two tours, a lunchtime meeting, and a talk on successful leadership by none other than Chuck Broyles, the head football coach at PSU!  We also have an excellent Fall Seminar planned that will include 2 hours of Ethics as well as a chance to fine tune your advanced Excel skills. 

With the ongoing construction at MSSU this year, we decided it was time to find a new home for our monthly meetings.  We think you will enjoy going to Chatter’s in Webb City.  The menu is varied, it’s centrally located, and the cost is reasonable.  We’re doing our part to fight inflation by not increasing meal prices again this year, and we have developed several initiatives that will hopefully bring back some of you that we haven’t seen for some time.  Watch for the details in upcoming newsletters.

Take a look at great line up of speakers and topics for a preview of events you can look forward to attending.  I’m confident that you will find subject matter and a diversity of speakers that will appeal to us all.
