Career & Technical Education - MS with emphasis in College Teaching, Tech Ed or Tech Teacher Ed Overview

Type: Graduate

The Department of Technology Studies offers courses leading to the Master of Science degree with a major in technical teacher education. The curriculum is planned to offer graduate level preparation for persons interested in qualifying for teaching and administrative positions in health occupations and technical education on the community college and college level.

Persons who hold the baccalaureate degree in allied health, agriculture, business, data processing, engineering, nursing, technology or related professional and technical areas may meet teacher certification and degree requirements by completing the degree.

Candidates for the degree are expected to have completed two years of work experience in their profession and must meet requirements for either Option I, Option II, or Option III as found under master's program option section. A minimum of 18 hours of required courses must be in the major. Additional work may be completed in a supporting area of study. All graduate students are required to take comprehensive examinations over the major departmental course work of study.

The candidate may elect to complete work in the community college program. As a part of this program, candidates take the following courses: SSLS 816 The Community College; SSLS 881 Orientation to College Teaching; and SSLS 882 College Teaching Internship.



Career Opportunities
