Biology - MS Overview
Type: Graduate
The Biology Department offers a Master of Science degree with a Major in Biology. Typically, the degree is obtained within two years of matriculation. Individual master's programs are developed by the student in consultation with her or his advisor and a graduate committee. Areas of study depend on the research interests of individual faculty. The Specialist in Education degree with biology as the major teaching field for secondary and community college teachers is offered by the Department of Special Services and Leadership Studies (see program web site) in cooperation with the Biology Department.

Graduate Admission Requirements
Biology (MS):
Admission to the Biology program requires the applicant to contact the graduate faculty member(s) that specialize in the area of study the applicant wishes to pursue. An applicant will not be admitted unless a faculty member agrees to serve as the applicant's advisor. Please visit the Faculty Web Page for a list of faculty contact information and their specialty areas. Admission also requires submission of the following:
- A statement of area of interest within the program
- A letter outlining academic and career goals
- 3 letters of reference
Please submit these to the faculty member that has agreed to serve as your advisor.
