Automotive Technology Undergraduate Degree

Pittsburg State University’s Automotive Technology Department offers a 4-year Bachelor of Science Degree (BST) in Automotive Technology. If your career plans are to start in an entry level management position and then move into upper management within the automotive industry then the 4-year program is the right degree choice for you. Students who earn their Bachelor of Science in Technology are often the first to be considered by employers in larger metropolitan areas. This degree is also the perfect foundation for students who wish to continue their education by obtaining their graduate degree.

Our 4-year Automotive Technology degree (BST) offers students a choice of six different emphasis areas.

Automotive Technology major distinctives

Pittsburg State is one of only approximately 10 colleges and universities in the nation to offer a 4-year degree in automotive technology. In fact, this program is considered by industry to be one of the top 3 of its kind in the country. It is the only BST Automotive Degree in the country that offers an emphasis in all of the following three areas: automotive, collision and diesel.

Students learn in classes that are purposefully kept small (average size is 20); guaranteeing a “hands-on” experience with some of the nation’s most accomplished professors. Our automotive laboratories encompass 32,000 square-feet of space and are among the most advanced in the nation. Thanks to our partners in industry, students have the opportunity to work on more than 40 donated automobiles and use the same tools and technology currently being used in the workplace. In fact, students do not need to bring or purchase their own tools.

Employers actively seek out Pittsburg State Automotive graduates because they know the quality of our program. Our graduates can be found in some of the largest and most well-respected companies in the world including: AGCO, Allstate, American Honda, Bridgestone-Firestone, Case New Holland, Caterpillar, Cummins Diesel Engine Co., Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, John Deere, Mazda, Nissan, State Farm, Tesla, Toyota and many more.
